I LIVE ON TREES !!

I LIVE ON TREES !!

I want to share my life in my hometown-Sarawak with you!!

This is my house. This is taken below my house~yes,i live on the tree top.Don’t play play, actually this tree is just a camouflage. In the center of the trunk is an elevator.Everyday, we go up and down the tree using the elevator. Each family live in one tree. The bigger trees are the condominium or the apartment. Our tree house is fully air-conditioned, with flat screen TV, DVD and great sound system…oh, not to forget the satellites and ASTRO which are so well hidden. So we can enjoy programs like Fear Factor while we are eating row meats.

Our main transportation is BUAYAK ( crocodiles). I tell you ar…Sarawak buayak sipeh duo…( too many) .and they swim sipeh fast as well….maybe faster than your speedboat. They are like the taxi…always waiting for you along the riverbank.Students can enjoy student fare…so i spend 40 cent to school everyday.

Mail??Pos Laju???postman??nah…no need la….don’t worry la…we got these~

NEVER look down on these babies~they fly 200KM per hour…MUCH FASTER than postman~
And more importantly…they work 7 days per week..hehe..and their pays?? emm….bananas??you think they are monkeys ar??

During Christmas or Kuey ni (Chinese New Year), going visiting is never a problem because our brilliant ancestor invented these in every forests…
this is what we call "hang bridge" !!These are extremely safe as we have monkeys as our guards and they do regular maintenance for it.Now everyone can walk from tree to tree!!

This blog is dedicated to those people who think Sarawakian live on trees!!never study Geography??Even people from other countries know about Sarawak…and yet some people from east Malaysian actually thought that we live one trees??and don’t have cloth to wear on???
Let me show you our beautiful Kuching city,Sarawak.
A PLACE LIKE NO OTHERS!!!!

Get To Know (GTK) USM chap 1

overall view of Penang Island [click to enlarge]

USM, Main Campus [click to enlarge to see the location of the hostels]

Again a note of reminder that there will be a 交流会 for junior and senior,
Date: Sunday , 21 june 2009
Venue: KPCA, behind Kenyalang's market
Time: 2.00 pm
Do come ya?

For this GTK chap 1, lets talk about the hostels available in USM. When you receive your offer letter, you'll be able to know which hostel you'll be allocated to.

Normally the place that you will be needed to report yourself will be the place where you'll be staying. So don't worry about having to move around much on your 1st day.

There's basically 6 main hostels:
1) Bakti Permai [BP]
2) Fajar Harapan [FH]
3) Cahaya Gemilang [CG]
4) Aman Damai [AD]
5) Indah Kembara [IK]
6) RST [ which consist of Restu. Saujana & Tekun]

BP is considered as one of the most strategically situated hostel because it is within walking distance to most of the places. For example, Dewan Kuliah [DK] where most of the classes will be held, DTSP and Lib. Hamzah Sendut 1 is just 3-4min walk away. There's also a 24hr operated Bank Islam ATM and a mini market which open daily from 9am -12am located inside of BP. Furthermore, BP is the ONLY hostel which have chinese operated food and beverages stall [cafe]. and not forget that the bustop is just situated infront of BP's basketball courts.

Now moving on to FH. Just right beside this hostel, is the famous Tasik Harapan [adjoining to Tasik Aman] where when you are lucky enough, you can catch a glimpse of monitor lizards or locally known as "biawak" basking under the sun. Besides that, there is also a bicycle rental shop. All you need is your matrik card and you'll be able to cycle around. ^^ If cycling is not your thing, you can go and jog around the tracks circling the lake instead.

CG is located beside the Pusat Kesihatan and the Dental department. So far from my personal experience most form of medical/dental check-up, acquiring of medicines and supplements is FREE. CG's cafeteria also provides cheaper priced food compared to other hostels thus if you are a lil tight on budget do make your way there.

AD... is divided into two. Aman [mainly for guys] and Damai [gals]. Nyway, there's nothing much to talk bout it. One good thing is Jabatan Keselamatan is just across the road. And the trackfield, stadium and squash and tennis courts is just beside Damai.

IK, is near to Dewan Pelajar Utama [DPU], 1-2min walks away. For your info, DPU [consist of DP A,B,C,D] will be the place that you'll be sitting for your final exams.

RST is situated outside of USM. you can either get there by using the overhead-bridge or the side-gate 2 [some where near trackfield/stadium]. It's a bit far from DK but it's one of the stopping point for all the buses so no worries lar. Not only that, Khaleel , a 24hr mamak/foodstall, is located beside it. You can access to free wi-fi there, since the wi-fi for RST totally SUCKs.

Well, thats all for this chap. Hope it helps. Next chap i'll be talking about the routes used for different coloured buses.
